    SCR ?

SCR Semi Closed Circuit Rebreather...

Semi Closed Circuit means that some of the expired breathing mix is expelled into the water, around every forth or fifth breath is expired... This helps to reduce CO2 build up... And means these units are as expensive as the CCR ones, as they have less need for expensive computer monitoring or injection systems, as most SCR's are manual....

   CCR ?

Closed Circuit Rebreathers...

Closed Circuit Rebreathers basically all follow the same simple design concept of recycling expired air, removing the CO2 content and adding Oxygen at the correct partial pressure for the depth... They differ by design and electronics that control the injection system and the Decompression data to the diver... Some even have manual override controls.

  Rebreather Diving & Training

ITDA Group Technical Training and Certification Agency

ITDA Group and Rebreathers

We have a long history of training and certifying rebreather divers and were one of the first agencies to Certify the European Built Units and we are involved in the design and development of training programs for manufactures...

 About Rebreathers

Rebreathers have been around since before Scuba Diving, and they can be a very good alternative to scuba, if you are looking for specific advantages: For example a rebreather functions simply by recycling your expired breathing gas and a chemical filter removes the excess CO2 giving you returned expired Oxygen... Hence "Rebreather"...

An additional Oxygen or Nitrox cylinder attached to the unit, refreshes the gas supply with each breath,

There are very many different rebreathers available on the market today but essentially there are only three type of rebreather: Oxygen(100%) Rebreather (used by the Military) - SCR Semi-Closed Circuit Rebreather and the CCR Closed Circuit.... Only two control systems exist: Manual & Automatic (Although there are some units that can be switched from Auto to Manual... We have produced a generic CCR Information / Education pack see below

 Why CCR Rebreather Diving?

Simply because the CCR has many advantages over scuba for both shallow and in particular deep diving, the main advantages over Scuba Units include:

  • Warm moist Air - Easier and more comfortable to breath

  • Much longer gas supply from small light cylinders from 2 to 4hrs plus++.

  • CCR Rebreathers offer very low noise and almost no bubbles (get Closer to Marine life!)

  • Different Gases May be used from Air, Nitrox, Trimix etc.

  • PPO2 may be fixed for deeper diving

  • Relatively easy to use and to maintain

The real major disadvantage of CCR Diving is the initial cost of the Unit from $6,000 USD to $$$$$

SCR or Semi-Closed Units can be bought for around $2000 USD and offer many of the same benefits as CCR expect that gas in the system is expelled every 3 or 4 breathes (Which is why it is semi-closed).

 Rebreather Training Programs

We have an extensive range of rebreather training and certification available, however there are major safety issues with some units...

We highly recommend the Evolution from UK Company Ambient Pressure Diving, as an excellent all round unit and ideal for those who are just entering the world of CCR Diving pictured here on the right...

We offer some very competitive training packages for entry level CCR Diving on the Submatix unit which is German designed and built by hand in Germany by a small family operated business.

Quality control is high and the service is good... ITDA Europe are a Distributor for them so we have a very good deal for members and worldwide sales and support in English... Training & Materials also in: German, Simplified Chinese, Mandarin and Spanish... More language support coming soon....

ITDA Asia are offering a Training package and Instructor Deals at very special pricing for Courses in Malaysia...  Please contact us urgently as places are very limited.

Our ITDA Technical & Specialist Instructors and Trainers offer Training On:

Megalodon - Evolution - Inspiration - Evo - KISS - Submatix CCR100&SCR - Drager - Poseidon - Azimuth  and many, many others....

Please note: Not all may support ITDA Certification as we do not support training for all of the above units at this time... and as we allow multi-agency membership our instructors and trainers are able to offer: IANTD or TDI as alternatives to ITDA....  Where ITDA Group do not support the units...

 ITDA Rebreather Training Levels

We offer in addition to the generic CCR/SCR Training materials above, three certification levels in Rebreather Diving, applied to both SCR and CCR Training & Certifications as both generic and Unit specific certifications:

  • Entry Level Rebreather Diver SCR / CCR - Air - Nitrox ( Depth 0-30m)
  • Rebreather Diver CCR - Air - Nitrox - Normoxic Trimix ( Depth 30-70m)
  • Advanced Rebreather Diver / Mixed Gas CCR - Trimix ( Depth 70-100m++)

 Certifications are Approved

Most Rebreather Training is unit specific and unit training is normally approved by the manufacturer or supplier, this ensures that the manufacturer can be sure the training on their unit is correct...

However! The concept of rebreather technology is common to all units and the physiology and physics are exactly the same, therefore: We have created a generic Rebreather CCR Education and Information Training Program that covers:
  • SCR Semi-Closed Circuit Rebreathers
  • CCR Closed Circuit Rebreathers
  • Physics and Physiology of Rebreather Diving
  • Advantages and Disadvantages of Rebreather Diving
  • Bonus Material - The Silent World of Diving

This generic CCR & SCR Education pack is designed to complement and support training materials from the manufactures NOT to replace them... The major benefit is that because it is not unit specific the information is generic and unbiased and examines the majority of the most popular units from a users point of view with likes and dislikes....

The materials are intended to expand the background knowledge of anyone taking a rebreather program from any agency and on any unit...

Author, Editor & Technical Assessor Steve Murray... Pictured here.

The cost from ITDA Group HQ is just: $69.99 USD
