Comfort
Comfortable Skills Levels
In diving it is very true that the more you can know about the subject the more you are "Comfortable" with it and it becomes easier to understand.
This is why we teach and train decompression theory from early levels and why our unique skills assessments are based on "Comfort" levels and not just meeting a standards performance requirement (like Some Agencies).
Confident
Building and developing Confidence
Confidence can be a double edged sword as too much confidence can be dangerous and encourage "Risk Taking"... But without confidence then we are timid and afraid...
This is why we develop student confidence through safety training skills and emergency drills... We also offer a step process to graduate to higher levels of certification and encourage a healthy respect for the risks and hazards of the diving environment.
Competent
Competence as a diver may mean the difference between life and death in an Emergency...
We take diver training very seriously indeed, and of course yes it should be fun... But we must always be mindful of our environment... This is why our Instructors and trainers are required to ask themselves this question before certifying a diver at any level... "ARE THEY COMPETENT TO DEAL WITH PROBLEMS FOR THEIR LEVEL OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE?" If the answer is yes... Then they will be certified and if it is no... They may be required to continue training to meet our our standards or fail the Course.
ITDA Philosophy
Traditional Training and Teaching Methods are now outdated...
ITDA Group Core Belief / Understanding
There are very many different training and educational methods employed around the World from agency to agency but they all must agree on one thing...
The Safety of the Training and the Personal Safety of the Students is the first priority in all cases...
Where the Agencies Differ?
This is about the training methods and standards employed to balance safety against commercial values, as "Diver Training" is a business and Companies have to make a profit to stay in business.
This is usually the most argued point from various training bodies and the Core Foundation for our basic Philosophy that "Divers are not naturally able to complete the safety skills required to be good divers... They MUST be Educated and Trained... Compare ITDA?
Only Human
As human beings we need to both understand and appreciate the risks and hazards involved in diving with compressed air (Or any other breathing gas) in a body of water... As we MUST use life support equipment and rely on our skills and knowledge in a potentially hostile environment...
As most of us have not yet, developed actual gills to breathe underwater
(Although some almost have...). We therefore need to establish a complete
understanding of our diving environment and also our equipment and of course to
study the risks and to Master
the skills required to become a safe diver... Some agencies will certify
divers to dive to 18m/60ft with a buddy after just four(4) Open Water Training
dives... This is why ITDA Group has more training dives and more
experience dives required for certification than other agencies...
ITDA Philosophy
Higher Standards = Safer Divers
We simply believe that offering more education and more training
and more Experience from Entry Levels will produce safer more self-aware divers.
Our Philosophy is based on the three C's, principle created by our founder:
- Comfortable
- Confident
- Competent
The more a diver is comfortable with their level of knowledge and skills the more confident they will become and this combination of Comfort and Confidence will produce more competent divers.
