About ITDA Certificate & Diploma Programs
ITDA Group International has developed a series of Higher education
programs for diving to be taught as a combination of both academic and
Instructional courses but offering the diving community a formal qualification
in diving and we are currently in discussions
with a number of higher education establishments to develop our academic
qualifications for the diving industry.

Why create a NEW Certification level? - Simply for two reasons:
-
Because all of the major agencies have different training and skills levels and different titles for the same training and certifications, which can be very confusing... Scuba Diver - Sport Diver - Open Water Diver - 2**Star Diver etc.etc.
For Example for the basic diving certification that allows a diver to dive unsupervised... i.e. A Certified Scuba Diver: If you have an NAUI Scuba Diver / Jr. Scuba Diver a PADI Open water diver and an SSI Open Water Diver Diver, do you think that they all have the same standards.... YES? Think Again...
Here is an actual example from a NAUI School Scuba Diver Course Outline:
Your instructor will teach you about dive equipment, the science of diving, responsible diving practices and the environment. You will also learn many skills in the water with practice time for your safety and comfort; and complete your training with a minimum of five(5) open water dives.
Now an Example from PADI: ....
PADI Open Water Diver Course. Duration : 3 to 4 days This course is entry level certification for non-divers. Once certified, you will be afforded access to diving services found internationally and qualified to dive independently without a dive professional. It consists of 5 knowledge development modules, 5 confined water training sessions and 4 open water dives. There is also a water skills assessment, which is a 200 metre swim (or a 300 metre snorkel swim with mask, snorkel and fins) and a 10 minute survival float (just on your backs). Minimum age is 10 for Junior Open Water.
Finally an Example from SSI: SSI Open Water Course: Your Confined Water Training will be held nearby a tropical reef, after each of your 5 confined water sessions and in your 4 Open Water Dives you will be able to discover the underwater world right away. Our principle in scuba teaching is: learning by doing. We have to do some classroom work, but we want to spend as much time in the water as possible. See Compare ITDA for more about our levels.
-
Safer Diving: The major problems with the above programs is that the theory is limited and the level of diving experience required is generally inadequate to produce highly competent Scuba divers. We also understand that time limitations are largely responsible and not a lack of standards. So we have created a solution for those that want to upgrade their certification and learn more about what diving is really about, including understanding the risks...
NOTE? We are not suggesting that any of the aforementioned programs are not adequate for the purpose of the training but merely not enough training or theory is or can be taught in the timescales allowed...
